Johnny Haynes Trophy Winner 2021
The Trust is delighted to announce that the recipient of this year’s Johnny Haynes Trophy as the Fulham Supporters’ Trust Academy Player of the Year for the 2020-21 season is Fabio Carvalho.
Fabio is the third winner of the Johnny Haynes Trophy, following on from Tyrese Francois in 2019 and Jay Stansfield in 2020. The trophy is awarded annually to Fulham’s Academy Player of the Year, voted on by Academy staff and players across the Under-16 to Under-23 age groups.
Dan Crawford, who was at Motspur Park to award the trophy on behalf of the Trust, was delighted with the news and the exciting prospect that Fabio is fast showing himself to be. “I think it’s terrific. Fabio’s one of those players who has excited anyone who has watched him play at youth level. He has great vision with his passing and an energy that’s really exciting. For supporters, there’s nothing better than seeing a homegrown product break through all the way up to the First Team.”
Awarding the trophy on behalf of the Academy, Mike Cave, Academy Director added, “Fabio fully deserves this award. He’s consistently performed very well not only on the pitch but off it too.
“He’s developed well over a long period of time and was excellent last season for our Under-23s. He was part of a very strong Under-18s team the season before that, so we all certainly saw this direction of travel. Everybody in the Academy is really really proud of him.
Huge congratulations to Fabio, and we sincerely hope that this award is the start of a fantastic week for him both on and off the pitch!
