Considering joining the Trust board?
It’s election time for us at the Trust and we’re keen to open the doors to fresh faces to be part of our volunteer-run group and bring new ideas to our work.
We’d love to hear from any members (you must have been signed up by October 1st 2023) who are keen to get more involved and would like to help with our overarching aims, which are to:
- seek supporters’ opinions regularly,
- ensure supporters’ views are fully considered in club decision-making,
- make sure, as a priority, that Fulham remains at Craven Cottage,
- campaign for reasonable pricing, ensuring the matchday experience remains accessible for all,
- promote an identity for the club, centred on a strong connection between the supporters, players and the community, irrespective of which division we are playing in,
- ensure our support to the team and supporters of all Fulham teams – men’s, women’s and youth,
- be an inclusive, positive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all supporters regardless of their age, income, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality or religious or moral belief(s) and without discrimination of any kind,
- encourage and promote supporter representation within football clubs and democratic ownership of them.
We like to think that we are actively engaging in all of these tasks, but inevitably, some get more of our time than others. If there are areas that you feel that you’d like us to do more within, or you have ideas or thoughts on how things could look different, then we’d love to hear from you.
What does being a board member look like?
It varies, and we do as much as possible to respect people’s free time and other areas of their lives to ensure we don’t encroach too much. But please also consider that the more time that you can offer, the more you will help us achieve and get back from the role.
You’ll be required to attend as often as possible a monthly evening board meeting that is hybrid depending on board member location (we have internationally based board members, and not all are London-based). We also always aim to have four board members attend the monthly meeting with the Club and try to do this by rotation. This also occurs online.
There are a number of formal board roles, all of which are agreed upon at the first board meeting following the election, as follows:
- Chair
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Membership Secretary
- Vice Chair
Although our meeting with Fulham is often the most visible part of our work, we undertake a wide variety of other activities on behalf of Fulham supporters. We are also members of the Metropolitan Police Independent Advisory Group (IAG) and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Safety Advisory Group (SAG), as well as being affiliated with the Football Supporters’ Association, which is the national umbrella body for Trusts. Individual board members take responsibility for a wide range of work, including:
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Communications
- Ticketing Liaison
- Website and IT
- Celebration Day Planning
- International Supporters
- Social Media and Email
We are looking for Trust members from across our fanbase with the time, skills, enthusiasm and ideas to join the board, take responsibility for some of our growing range of activities and help build the supporter voice at Fulham. We want to see our board become more representative of the diverse nature of our fanbase, so we hope that you will consider putting yourself forward or encouraging others you know, as there is much to do.
If you are interested in finding out more, please contact any board member, or you can contact us using our main email address: contact@fulhamsupporterstrust.com.
