Away Day Guide – West Ham United
Everything you need to know ahead of our next trip to The London stadium, home of West Ham United FC.
GETTING TO THE LONDON STADIUM
BY CAR
Exit the M11: At the end of the M11 motorway, stay in the left-hand lane and follow signs for the North Circular A406 (S) towards the A12 and A13. Merge onto the A12. As the roads merge, move into the left-hand lane for the A12. Exit onto the A106, take the exit onto the A106, signposted for Stratford and Westfield. At the bottom of the slip road, at the traffic lights, use the left-hand filter lane towards Stratford and Westfield. Continue along this road; the stadium will be on your right.
BY TRAIN
The three closest train stations to the London Stadium are Stratford, Stratford International and Hackney Wick, which are all around 10 to 15 minutes walk from the stadium itself.
Stratford station (Jubilee, Central Lines and DLR) is located next to Westfield and has overground connections to London Liverpool Street and Clapham Junction. Supporters are advised that after the match, fans heading back to Stratford station are diverted on a route that avoids the shopping centre and there the queues are managed to regulate the flow of supporters into the station. There are also likely to be lengthy queues on the platforms as well.
Stratford International Railway station is on the other side of Westfield to Stratford and is served by local services from London St Pancras, which is about seven minutes away. It is also located on the Docklands Light Railway.
Hackney Wick is on the west side of the stadium when to compared to the two Stratford stations and Westfield. It is served by trains from Clapham Junction, Richmond and Stratford. It also stops at Highbury and Islington, which is also situated on the Victoria Tube line. Supporters are being discouraged from using Hackney Wick on matchdays due to its small size, but it is open on matchdays and you are advised to arrive in good time. After the game, services from this station are likely to be packed with fans who have already got on at Stratford.
BY TUBE
Take any of the Elizabeth Line, Central Line, Jubilee Line, Overground or Docklands Light Railway to Stratford. Overground to Hackney Wick. You can take the Docklands Light Railway to Pudding Mill Lane.
PARKING
CAR PARKING
There is car parking available at Westfield Stratford (£10 for 3 – 6 hours) and Stratford International Station (£19/event day). It can take an hour to get out of car parks after a match.
BIKE PARKING
There is a London Cycle Superhighway from central London (Aldgate) to Stratford City. Westfield has 780 secure bicycle parking spaces. The Olympic Park is bicycle friendly with several bicycle parking locations in close proximity to the Stadium. The Olympic Park has 310 docking points for London’s cycle hire scheme (Santander Bikes) spread across eight docking stations in and around the Park.
ENJOYING THE AREA
AWAY PUBS
There are very few pubs that will welcome away supporters in the vicinity of the London Stadium, so Fulham supporters may prefer to drink in central London before heading to the ground. The Hamilton Hall Wetherspoon’s outlet at Liverpool Street station has been a popular meeting point for fans travelling to West Ham since they moved to the London Stadium.
Some of the bars in Westfield may tolerate away supporters in colours, except during high-risk matches, which rarely would a fixture against Fulham be deemed so, although this will be decided by those running the bars on the day.
PLACES TO EAT
Westfield Stratford has various fast food outlets and many restaurants. Hackney Wick has over 30 places to eat and drink, plus street food vendors.
OTHER RECOMMENDED STOPS
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has a number of attractions, such as the ArcelorMittal Orbit, Abba Voyage and opening in 2025 – Sadler’s Wells East, BBC Studios and the V&A Museum.
